What is a park?
The International Association of Science Parks (IASP), defines the concept of Park as: 

A Science/Technology Park is an organization managed by professionals with the fundamental goal of increasing the wealth of its community by promoting an innovation culture and by fostering entrepreneurial competitiveness directed to knowledge generating institutions based on the Park or associated to it.

To that end, a Science/Technology Park stimulates and manages knowledge and technology exchange amongst universities, research institutions, businesses and markets; It fosters the creation and growth of innovative businesses through spin-off generation and incubation mechanisms while providing other valuable services as well as high quality space and facilities.




A definition of “Science and Technology Park” according to the “Spanish Association of Science and Technology Parks” (APTE) 

 

A Science and Technology Park is a project generally associated to a physical space which:

 - Maintains formal and operational relationship with the universities, research centers and other higher education institutions.

 - Is designed to encourage the establishment and growth of knowledge based businesses and other high-value organizations belonging to the tertiary sector, usually situated in the Park.

 - Has a stable managing body which enhances technology transfer and fosters innovation among the businesses and organizations established in the Park.
